Team Bentley made its big comeback to motorsports last year, scoring major wins at Silverstone and Le Castellet with Bentley’s new high-performance racing machine, the Bentley Continental G3. The new Breitling for Bentley GT3 Chronograph — the latest product collaboration between the Swiss watch manufacture and the British luxury automaker — pays tribute to this exceptional vehicle.

Hands-On With the Omega Speedmaster “Lunar Dust” Replica

Monochromatic watches have been one of the major trends in the watchmaking industry in recent years, especially with the use of black-DLC coated cases, with sometimes questionable results. Although we’re not the biggest fans of all-black watches, we have to admit that Omega’s use of the look on the Cheap Omega Speedmaster  Replica was interesting. First of all, the color scheme works great on the Dark Side of the Moon, and the concept of a ceramic watch has been pushed to the extreme: the case, crown, pushers, caseback, buckle and even the dial are made of that same material. And this interpretation, a “declination of grey,” is a nice alternative for those who want a brighter color.

The Omega Speedmaster Lunar Dust shares its 44.25-mm case and technical specifications with the Omega Replica Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon. The case is made from a solid block of white ceramic that is treated with a plasma technology. We’re not talking about a surface coating here, but a deep treatment that tints the entire ceramic: if you cut the case in half, you’ll see that the gray tone goes all the way through. What that means is no risk of fading colors or of seeing traces of white after the case has been scratched (something that will probably never happen anyway, because ceramic is nearly scratch-proof). On the photo below, you can see the different steps of manufacturing.The color obtained through the process is a metallic gray, darker than stainless steel or titanium, reminding us of the color of a moon stone. The difference between the entirely black “Dark Side of the Moon” and the “Lunar Dust” is that the dial on the latter is made of a solid piece of platinum that is finely textured and is a bit iridescent. Today, the Datejust combines the continued tradition of being a classic staple watch, with the modern demands that arise from being a mainstay of one of the world’s most recognizable brands. As such, the modern series endures an amalgam of critiques and praise from the opinions of “Vintage Eyed” types such as myself, along with the mostly sustained love of luxury consumers searching for a specific color combination in a good-looking watch.

The first piece we are going to cover this week is from the classic Replica Watches collection, the Reference 116234. While this reference covers a majority of the variations within the modern series, the specific piece we will look at is a rather attractive blue, sunburst-dialed watch.As I mentioned before, the watch measures 36 mm in diameter in a steel-and-white-gold case housing inside Rolex’s in-house automatic Caliber 3135. It has a sunburst blue dial with applied white gold Roman numerals for hour markers, a date window with accompanying familiar cyclops lens for the 3 o‘clock date display, and the iconic Rolex crown logo, also applied, in white gold at the 12 o’clock mark. The only overt issue I take with the piece is its price relative to the vintage models; vintage Best Fake Rolex are very popular in that market because they are first, relatively accessible and second, incredibly good-looking — very much “bang for your buck.” As this is the case, it is unsurprising to me that so many Rolex lovers are being drawn into the world of vintage watches; if I could have a mint-condition, pre-owned Datejust for potentially half the price of a new, modern one, it seems odd to me to pay more for contemporary features that I might not necessarily desire. Even armed with this knowledge, however, it’s still unlikely that consumers will be drawn en masse toward vintage options; of course, Fake Rolex Watches knows this and updates its new watches accordingly — perhaps even enough to urge some of those “vintage guys” to purchase modern pieces.

There exists in the modern Rolex Datejust collections a watch for just about anyone’s taste, but not everyone agrees this is for the best. Of course, Rolex is doing whatever it can to attract more people into its world of luxury, but this also may alienate many who are either deeply knowledgeable or invested into the intricacies of the watches. While today there is a variety of color combinations that do appeal to Replica Watches aficionados like myself, I am also aware of often less expensive alternatives in the vintage world. I suppose, in the end, it really comes down to what kind of “Rolex Guy” you might be.
